She is the Medical Director of Drushti Daan Eye Bank, Bhubaneswar (since 2007), and Head of LVPEI’s Eye Bank Network (since 2021). She received her basic medical education and postgraduate training in Ophthalmology from MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Odisha, India. She has an FRCS (Glasg.) in Ophthalmology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, and FAICO (Cornea) from the All India Collegium of Ophthalmology. She completed her subspecialty training in Cornea and Anterior Segment from LVPEI, Hyderabad, India. Further, she completed her ICO Fellowship in Cornea at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany, and Clinical Fellowship in Cornea at the Royal Victorian Eye \u0026amp; Ear Hospital and CERA, Melbourne University, Australia, and joined LVPEI as a medical faculty in 2007. She has pursued an Advanced Management Program in Healthcare from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, India, and received a D.Sc. (honoris causa) from the Ravenshaw University, Odisha, India. She is recipient of (i) IJO-AIOS Gold Award, BK Narayan Rao Award and KR Dutta Award from All India Ophthalmological Society; (ii) Developing Country Eye Researcher Award from the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) Foundation, USA; (iii) Achievement Award from American Academy of Ophthalmology and (iv) Member with Thesis from the Cornea Society, USA. She has served as an ORBIS International faculty member for evaluating subspecialty education programs in Cornea in Bangladesh. She is currently the Vice President of Eye Bank Association of India. She has contributed significantly to drafting of ‘Eye Banking Standards of India 2020’ for NPCB\u0026amp;VI, Govt of India, and ‘COVID-19 Practice Guidelines for Cornea and Eye Banking’ for All India Ophthalmological Society. She has authored two books on cornea: (i) Infections of the Cornea and Conjunctiva, and (ii) Keratoconus – Diagnosis and Treatment. She has published more than 175 medical journal articles and contributed 15 book chapters. She serves on the editorial boards of several medical journals, including Scientific Reports, Eye, Ophthalmic Research, Indian Journal of Ophthalmology, Eye Banking and Corneal Transplantation. She is a Member of the Specialists Board (Ophthalmology) of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (India).
