Professor (Dr.) Darpan Bhargava completed his bachelor in dental surgery and masters in oral and maxillofacial surgery from Meenakshi Ammal Dental College and Hospital, Chennai, India. He is a distinction holder and gold medalist from The Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University for his under-graduation and Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and research (MAHER), Chennai for his post-graduation. He has also successfully completed the Diploma of Membership in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow. He holds postgraduate diploma in Hospital Management and Clinical Research. He is credited with the introduction of twin-mix nerve blocks for mandibular anesthesia. He is the founder director of TMJ Consultancy Services, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. He is project director and mentor to the TMJ Foundation’s Global Fellowship for Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (FTMJF) which offers super speciality training after post graduate studies. He has over 150 national and international scientific publications to his credit. He holds the first ever Indian patent for temporomandibular joint alloplastic prosthesis. He is awarded Ph.D from Meenakshi University, Chennai for his acclaimed research on “Predictability and Feasibility of Total Alloplastic Temporomandibular Joint Reconstruction - TMJ TRJ”. He is credited for the research on and the introduction of the double barrel single puncture temporomandibular joint arthrocentesis system for the South Asian countries. This system is widely accepted and is popular as OnePrick temporomandibular joint arthrocentesis system. He is author for the authoritative book “Temporomandibular Joint Disorders: Principles and Current Practice”, published by Springer Nature, Singapore (2021). He is currently a leading surgical expert for total alloplastic temporomandibular joint replacement (TJR) surgeries, with his noted scientific contribution to the field.
