He also serves as the deputy director of the Smart Security and Emergency Innovation Research Center of SCUT. He received his PhD from Zhejiang University, China in 2015. Dr. Zhou did his post-doctoral study at SCUT during 2016–2018, and became an associate professor since then. He worked as a visiting fellow at the University of Warwick, the UK during 2019–2020. His research focuses on hydrogen energy storage and safety technology. To date, he has led over 20 research funded projects, published over 80 scientific publications, been granted over 20 Chinese invention patents.
