It addresses the critical need for effective retrofitting solutions in earthquake-prone regions as well as for aging infrastructure, while presenting both mechanical models and seismic performance assessment frameworks. The book systematically explores the axial and seismic behavior of pre-damaged, corroded, and earthquake-induced damaged RC structures retrofitted via FRP, integrating experimental data with analytical modeling to deliver both practical guidelines and theoretical insights. The content is organized into six detailed and comprehensive chapters. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the main content of this book, enabling readers to quickly grasp its contents. Chapter 2 investigates the axial compression behavior of predamaged concrete prisms confined with BFRP. In Chapter 3, the book expands the research subject to BFRP-confined predamaged RC circular columns. Chapter 4 delves into the axial compression behavior of RC columns strengthened with BFRP under the combined effects of corrosion and predamage. Chapter 5 shifts the focus to seismic performance, investigating the seismic behavior of damaged RC columns retrofitted with BFRP. Chapter 6 proposes a nonlinear fiber beam element modeling method for repaired columns based on the OpenSees. Chapter 7 transitions from the static axial compressive behavior of materials and components to nonlinear dynamic modeling at the frame. Chapter 8 elevates the study from the member to the structures, conducting a vulnerability analysis of a five-story, three-span RC frame structure. Chapter 9 summarizes the major research outcomes and contributions of this book, synthesizes the core findings of each chapter, and provides an outlook on future research directions. Relevant to both researchers and practitioners, this book solves the pressing problem of how to reliably assess, model, and retrofit damaged RC structures to restore or enhance their load-bearing capacity and ductility. This book is aimed at civil engineers, researchers, and graduate students specializing in structural engineering, seismic retrofit, and advanced composite materials, as well as professionals involved in the design and rehabilitation of concrete structures.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cp\u003eGao Ma is Professor in the College of Civil Engineering at Hunan University and Core Member of State Key Laboratory of Bridge Safety and Resilience and Key Laboratory for Damage Diagnosis of Engineering Structures of Hunan province, China.
