Endophthalmitis Management Study
New Insights from a Randomized Clinical Trial
Taraprasad Das | Vivek Pravin Dave | Joveeta Joseph
This book presents the findings of the Endophthalmitis Management Study (EMS), a multicentric randomized control trial conducted in India, focusing on acute endophthalmitis following cataract surgery. It introduces innovative methodologies, including the inflammation score to measure associated inflammation objectively and new molecular technology such as the next-generation sequencing for microbiology work-up. It provides new evidence-based guidance for managing acute endophthalmitis after cataract surgery.
Chapters explore the effectiveness of inflammation-score-based treatment strategies and efficacy of new intravitreal antibiotics. The authors provide an analysis of subgroup data, offering insights into the diverse manifestations of endophthalmitis. It presents an innovative algorithm to measure the infectivity of the condition, while the visual functional study offers crucial information on macular function following successful treatment.
This essential resource is tailored for vitreo retina specialists and general ophthalmologists, offering them the latest research and practical strategies for managing acute endophthalmitis.
