This book focuses on learning the basic theories and technologies of wastewater treatment process. Aiming to provide an introduction for readers to build the overall framework of wastewater treatment engineering, the book covers preliminary knowledge including wastewater properties, collection and transportation, common physical, chemical and biological technologies of wastewater treatment and some engineering cases. After going through all chapters and finishing exercises, readers should be able to understand how municipal wastewater is treated and continue studying in wastewater treatment engineering related areas. The book is written for college students of environmental engineering as well as individuals or organizations engaged in wastewater treatment practices.

Dr. Lingling Zhang is a professor at University of Science and Technology Beijing, China. She earned a Ph. D. in particle science and engineering (Leeds University, UK)). She has long been engaged in teaching in the field of water/wastewater treatment, Her research focuses on the recycle of industrial solid waste in environmental applications, i.e. research on solid waste based materials using in advanced oxidation system.

Dr. Zian Tang is a lecturer works at University of Science and Technology Beijing, China. He studied material chemistry at the University of Jena, Germany, where he also received his Doctor of Natural Sciences (Dr. rer. nat.). His current research focuses on solid waste recycling and materials for water treatment.

Dr. Shikun Cheng is a professor at University of Science and Technology Beijing. His research focuses on water and sanitation, especially resource-oriented sanitation and non-sewered sanitation system. He is a member of IWA Specialist Group on Sanitation and Water Management in Low and Middle-Income Countries. He is also the editor of Journal of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Development. He serves as Secretary-general of Toilet Professional Committee under China Association of Urban Environmental Sanitation.

Meiyan Li holds the position of Technical Director at CRRC Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. Her main research interests and areas of focus are centered around sewage plant operation management, sludge anaerobic digestion technology, and environmental protection industry research. She has received numerous honors, including the Third Prize of the CRRC Science and Technology Award and the Excellent Industrial Research Project Award of CRRC Industrial Investment. Additionally, she is a Certified Environmental Protection Engineer and a Senior Engineer, and serves as an expert of the Industrial Water Treatment Professional Committee of the China Chemical Industry Society.
