Dr. Raghumani S. Ningthoujam obtained M. Sc. in Chemistry from Manipur University in 1994. He was awarded Ph. D. in Chemistry from IIT Kanpur in area of superconducting, electron transport and magnetic properties of nanostructured transition metal nitrides in 2004. He joined BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre), Mumbai as Scientific Officer (D) in 2006 after completion of Dr. K. S. Krishnan Fellowship. Presently, he is working in area of Luminescent and Magnetic Nanomaterials and their applications in sensors, imaging, diagnosis and therapy. He did Post-Doctoral Fellowship at University of Victoria, Canada in the area of quantum dots. Presently, he is Scientific Officer (G) at Chemistry Division, BARC, Mumbai. He has published about 194 Papers in the refereed Journals, 10 Review Articles and 24 Book Chapters and edited 7 Books. In recognition of his significant contributions to the chemical science, he has been awarded DAE-Scientific & Technical Excellence Award (2012), Young Achiever Award, SSPS (2010), Chemical Research Society of India’s Bronze Medal (2022), Materials Research Society of India’s Medal (2022), Society for Materials Chemistry’s Silver Medal (2023) and P. N. Sazhin, Russian Academia, State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, Moscow, Russia (2024), CRS Silver Star Medal Award (2025), RIST Distinguish Scientist Award in Chemical Science (2025). He has been elected as a Fellow, The National Academy of Sciences, India (FNASc) in 2016, a Fellow, Maharashtra Academy of Sciences (FMASc) in 2013 and a Fellow, Physics Academy of the North East (2024).

Dr. A. K. Tyagi joined Chemistry Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai in 1986 through BARC Training School. During his career spanning four decades, he occupied various positions at BARC such as Head, Chemistry Division, Head, Analytical Chemistry Division, Head, Radiation Medicine Centre, Director, Chemistry Group and Director, Bio-Science Group. He was a Distinguished Scientist, DAE. Presently, he is Dean and Senior Professor at Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai. His research interests are in the field chemistry of materials, which includes functional materials, nanomaterials, nuclear materials, energy materials, metastable materials, hybrid materials and structure-property correlation. He has published more than 700 papers in journals, several books and has supervised 42 PhD students. He was awarded PhD by Mumbai University, Mumbai in 1992. He did postdoctoral research at Max-Planck Institute for Solid State Research (MPI-FKF), Stuttgart, Germany during 1995-96. In addition, he has also visited Institute of Superior Technology, Portugal; Institute for Chemical Process and Environmental Technology, Ottawa, Canada; Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada; Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia; Institute for Materials, Nantes, France; University of Malay, Malaysia; National Institute of Materials Science, Tsukuba, Japan; National University of Singapore, Singapore; Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden; Rice University, Houston, USA; Shanghai, China; University of Valencia, Valencia, Spain; Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel; University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia; US-Air Force Research Lab, Dayton, USA, Institute for Studies of Nanostructured Materials, Palermo, Italy and iThemba Labs, Cape Town, South Africa and Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has been conferred with a number of awards such as such as DAE-Homi Bhabha Science and Technology Award, DAE-SRC Outstanding Researcher Award, DAE-Group Achievement Award (four times); MRSI Medal; MRSI-ICSC Materials Science Senior Award; MRSI-CNR Rao Prize in Advanced Materials; MRSI Distinguished Materials Scientist of the year award; CRSI Bronze Medal; CRSI-CNR Rao National Prize in Chemical Sciences; CRSI-Silver Medal; Rajib Goyal Prize in Chemical Sciences; Metallurgist of the Year award from Ministry of Steel, GoI; National Prize in Solid State and Materials Chemistry from JNCASR; ISCA Acharya PC Ray Memorial Award; NETZSCH – ITAS Award by Indian Thermal Analysis Society, DN Agarwal Memorial Award from Indian Ceramics Society and Gold medal of Chirantan Rasayan Sanstha. Rare Earth Association of India and Luminescence Society of Indian conferred on him Lifetime Achievement Awards. He is a recipient of J. C. Bose National Fellowship. In 2024, he was conferred with the prestigious Vigyan Shri Award of Government of India. He is an elected Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy (FNA), Indian Academy of Sciences (FASc); National Academy of Sciences, India (FNASc); Indian National Academy of Engineering (FNAE); Maharashtra Academy of Sciences; Royal Society of Chemistry, UK (FRSC); Asia Pacific Academy of Materials; World Academy of Ceramics; African Academy of Sciences and The World Academy of Sciences (FTWAS).
