Leo Acquistapace, with a PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology, authored several papers and book chapters as well as the Italian monograph Tenetevi in matrimonio e dateci la dote: il lavoro riproduttivo nelle relazioni di intimità, solidarietà e cura oltre la coppia nell’Italia urbana contemporanea (2022) on which this book is based. A transfeminist and queer activist, s/he is a member of the Bologna-based collective Laboratorio Smaschieramenti, which has played a key role in several Italian feminist, queer, and workerist debates.

Chiara Bertone is Professor of Sociology at the University of Eastern Piedmont, Italy. Her main interests lie in gender, family studies and sexuality. She is editor of the Palgrave Macmillan Studies in Family and Intimate Life book series. Her publications include Il familiare è politico (2024) and The SAGE Handbook of Global Sexualities (2020, co-editor).

Renato Busarello is an independent researcher, queer and transfeminist activist and political organizer. He authored several papers and held lectures at venues including the University of Bologna, Italy, and Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, Spain. As a member of the Bologna-based collective Laboratorio Smaschieramenti, he has contributed to some of the most significant queer mobilizations in Italy for the last 25 years.
