Moreover, it explores the rapidly evolving threat landscape, emphasizing how quantum computing and AI-driven cyber threats have transformed the security paradigm for satellite systems. Professor Hamid Jahankhani, PhD, FHEA, FRSA, gained his PhD from the Queen Mary College, University of London. In 1999 he moved to the University of East London (UEL) to become the first Professor of Information Security and Cyber Criminology at the university in 2010. Hamid moved to Northumbria University London Campus/ QAHE in 2016 as programme leader for MSc cyber security with an agenda to develop research in London Campus, which was successfully achieved. Hamid is currently Chief Academic Officer at MLA college, UK.
Hamid’s principal research area for a number of years has been in the field of cyber security, space governance, satellite, drones, information security and digital forensics. In partnership with the key industrial sectors, he has examined and established several innovative research projects that are of direct relevance to the needs of UK and European information security, digital forensics industries, Critical National Infrastructure and law enforcement agencies. Professor Jahankhani is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Electronic Security and Digital Forensics, published by Inderscience and general chair of the annual International Conference on Global Security, Safety and Sustainability (ICGS3). Hamid has edited and contributed to over 40 books including, Space law, Symbiotic Intelligence, Autonomous Revolution, cyber criminology, AI, Blockchain and Self-Sovereign Identity in Higher Education, space mining, Market Grooming, Strategy, Leadership, and AI in the Cyber Ecosystem, and has over 400 conference and journal publications together with various blogs and BBC radio interviews. Hamid have supervised to completion 14 PhD and professional doctorate degree students and overseen 67 PhD students progressing.
Dr. Umair B. Chaudhry is recognised as a global talent by the Royal Society of the UK, a fellow of higher education academy (FHEA), and holds a Ph.D. in electronic engineering and computer science from Queen Mary University of London, where his doctoral research focused on autonomous pathfinding for UAVs, specifically, targeting data collection from mobile ad-hoc IoT nodes using evolutionary algorithms. Since 2013, he has been actively engaged in academia, teaching a wide range of computing modules and supervising numerous master's dissertations. His supervision spans a broad spectrum of domains, including cybersecurity, machine learning and AI, network engineering and architecture and network research. His current research interests include, but are not limited to, digital twins and data center intelligence, AI and generative AI applications, smart cities and industrial automation, self-learning systems and the emerging cybersecurity challenges posed by rapidly evolving digital landscapes.
Dr Maria A. Pozza is the Director and Principal Lawyer of Gravity Lawyers, a New Zealand firm specialising in New Zealand space law and international space law. The firm is recognised by the global Lexology Index ranking for its work and specialisation in Transport - Space & Satellites. A recognised international expert in space law, her expertise is often called up by commercial entities, agencies, and institutions on launch and payload approvals, New Zealand's space regulatory framework, and the commercial and military uses of outer space. Dr Pozza is a Senior Lecturer at Lincoln University- NZ, an adjunct lecturer at Massey University-NZ, and teaches alongside the Strategic Space Law Course team, and the Commercial Space Law team at Adelaide Law School, Adeliade University, Australia.
Dr Pozza is a prolific publisher and is the editor for the Space Law and Policy Series with Springer, she was an official reviewer of the Woomera Manual, and she is also part of the drafting team currently working on the Wayfarer’s Manual
Dr Pozza sits on a number of important Boards and Committees: UNIDRIOT Focus Group on the Implementation of the Space Protocol to the Cape Town Convention; The Otago Foreign Policy School where she currently holds the Director Appointment, the National Security School (Otago), Committee member for the establishment of the arbitration Courts of Space – Dubai, and she also sits as an Advisory Board Member at the Centre for Research in Air and Space Law, Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai.
Dr Pozza has overseen PhD students specialising in the field of space to completion for the award of PhD, and has overseen Masters Students.
She has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades that recognise her contribution to the growth of the space industry in New Zealand as well as space law domestically. Most recently, she was awarded by Risk Management Institute of Australia’s Risk leader of the Year Award for the APAC Region, the NZ and Australian Lawyers Magazine “Most Influential Lawyer in New Zealand Award”, and was recognised as an Elite Woman Lawyer New Zealand Award.
