Influencing Factors of Potential Well and the Controlling Mechanism of Methane Distribution in Coal

Chen Wang | Tao Yang

Science / Earth Sciences / General

This book provides a comprehensive and systematic study of key scientific issues related to methane adsorption in coal, based on physical experiments and adsorption theory. These include the distribution characteristics of methane within coal, the experimental determination of methane adsorption potential well depth, the effects of coal functional groups and pore structure on adsorption potential wells, and the accuracy of various methods for calculating methane adsorption capacity.

An accurate approach for determining the methane adsorption capacity of coal is proposed based on the measurement of adsorption potential well depth. Furthermore, this book reveals the key factors controlling methane adsorption in non-uniform potential wells and establishes a framework for characterizing the associated adsorption behavior.

This book is primarily intended for teachers, researchers, and students in safety engineering, mining engineering, geological engineering, and related disciplines. It is also be of value to technical professionals, engineering managers, and researchers in coal enterprises and research institutions.

The basis of English translation of this book, originally in Chinese, was facilitated by artificial intelligence. The content was later revised by the author for accuracy.
