Taking sandstone-type uranium deposits in Zhiluo Formation in Ordos Basin (the largest uranium-producing basin in China) as the research target, this book selects three typical outcrop areas according to different provenance systems, uranium reservoir types and uranium mineralization diversities on the basis of the restoration and reconstruction of the large-scale provenance-sedimentary lobes of uranium reservoir sandbodies in the whole basin, it emphatically constructs the geological models of sedimentary, diagenetic and metallogenic heterogeneity of four kinds of uranium reservoir sandbodies in braided river deltas and incised valleys. It then thoroughly analyzes the restriction of heterogeneity of the physical structure and the material composition of uranium reservoir on uranium mineralization. The idea and experience of outcrop geological modeling are extended to underground work, so that the heterogeneous geological modeling of typical uranium deposits is selected and constructed, in order to provide a sedimentological basis for revealing metallogenic mechanism, enhancing recovery and further developing digital modeling and numerical simulation.

This monograph is suitable for both graduate students, researchers and front-line industrial engineers who are engaged in sedimentary basin analysis and energy & mineral research.

Jiao Yangquan, Professor of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), took the lead in setting up a research team on uranium resources in the basin and established a theoretical and technical system of uranium reservoir sedimentology, which provided scientific and technological support for the discovery of a series of sandstone-type uranium deposits and the expansion of geological reserves in China. He is a well-known scholar in the field of sandstone-type uranium deposits in China and an academic leader in the field of sedimentary basins and energy minerals of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). His representative books, articles and teaching materials include Sedimentology of Uranium Reservoir, Geological Modeling for Uranium Reservoir Heterogeneity, Review of Basin Uranium Resources in China, Sedimentology of Coal-bearingBasins, Mineral Resources in Coal Measures , etc.

Dr. Liqun Wu is an associate professor at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). Her research focuses on Uranium Reservoir Sedimentology and Geology of Sandstone-type Uranium Deposits, and her recent research interests are Uranium Reservoir Characterization and Mineralization. She obtained her Ph.D. in 2010 from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). As the first author or corresponding author, she has published more than 20 papers in many peer-reviewed journals including Ore Geology Reviews, Journal of Earth Science and so on, and authored a number of books and book chapters. She has won two National Natural Science foundation Projects, National and Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards, Provincial Science and Technology Award, Outstanding Thesis Advisor Award and Certificate of Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing. In the first National Coal Geoscience Competition in 2017, she won First Team Award in "Knowledge Competition" and "Core Logging" respectively, and Second Team Award & Outstanding Organization Award in "Undergraduate Skills Competition".

Dr. Hui Rong is an associate professor at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). His research focuses on Reservoir Sedimentology and Geology of Sandstone-type Uranium Deposits, and his recent research interests are Reservoir Characterization and Diagenesis. He received his B.S. degree, M.S. degree, and Ph.D. in 2006, 2009 and 2012 respectively from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). He has published 19 papers in many peer reviewed journals including AAPG Bulletin, Ore Geology Reviews, Marine and Petroleum Geology, Applied Geochemistry, Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, Facies, Journal of Earth Science and so on as the first author or corresponding author, covering fields of reservoir characterization and diagenesis. He has also authored a number of books and book chapters. He has won Teaching Achievement Award of Hubei Province (Second Class), Outstanding Thesis Advisor Award and Certificateof Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing.

Yonggang Gao is an associate professor at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) (CUG). Majoring in English, he received his bachelor’s degree in 1999. From then on, he has been working in CUG as an English Teacher. In the field of English Applied Linguistics, he got his M.A. in 2005. Focusing on American Literature, he acquired his D.A. in 2018. In 2017, he participated in Professor Jiao’s team, mainly responsible for the collection of foreign literatures concerning sandstone-type uranium study.

Dr. Fan Zhang is an associate professor at the China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). Her research focuses on Reservoir Sedimentology and Geology of Sandstone-type Uranium Deposits, and her recent research interests are in Reservoir characterization and Mineralization. She received her B.S. degree in 2013, and her Ph.D. in 2018 from the China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). She has published 11 papers in many journals including AAPG Bulletin, Ore Geology Reviews, Journal of Earth Science, Applied Geochemistry and so on as the first author, covering fields of reservoir characterization and mineralization mediated by organic matter. She has also authored a number of books and book chapters. She has won Outstanding Doctorate Dissertations Award.

Dr. Zhenpeng Tao is a lecturer at the Huanggang Normal University (Huanggang). His research focuses on Reservoir Sedimentology and Geology of Sandstone-type Uranium Deposits. He received his B.S. degree in 2013, his M.S. degree in 2016, and his Ph.D. in 2020 from the Southwest University of Science and Technology, Guizhou University and China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), respectively. He has published a few papers in some peer reviewed journals including Journal of Asian Earth Sciences, Geosciences Journal, Earth Science (Chinese Edition), Coal Geology & Exploration (Chinese Edition), China Coal (Chinese Edition) and so on as the first author or co-author, covering fields of reservoir characterization, diagenesis and coal geochemistry.

Dr. Liang Yue is an associate professor at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). His research focuses on Reservoir Sedimentology and Geology of Sandstone-type Uranium Deposits, and his recent research interests are in Fe-bearing minerals diagenesis, especially in the genetic relationship between pyrite and uranium minerals in sandstone-hosted uranium deposits. He received his B.S. degree in 2015, and his Ph.D. in 2021 from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). In September 2019, he went to University of Manitoba as a visiting scholar for one year after receiving funding from China Scholarship Council. He has published 3 papers in Ore Geology Reviews, American Mineralogist as the first author. He has won School-level Outstanding Graduate Award and Outstanding Doctorate Dissertations Award.
