Innovative Surgical and Endoscopic Procedures in Gastrointestinal Oncology

Jiankun Hu | Kun Yang | Ziqiang Wang | Bing Hu

Medical / Gastroenterology

This volume provides a practical guide to four specialized surgical and endoscopic interventions used in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers. Developed by experienced clinicians, it examines laparoscopic gastrectomy, pelvic floor reconstruction using bladder peritoneum flap rotation, magnetic bead-assisted endoscopic submucosal dissection, and diverticular peroral endoscopic myotomy (D-POEM).

Readers will learn how to evaluate indications, plan procedures, address technical challenges, and incorporate these approaches into clinical practice. Structured chapters covering operative rationale, procedural workflows, technical summaries, and expert perspectives enable surgeons to translate experience-based knowledge into improved procedural execution.

Featuring real clinical cases and accompanying surgical videos, the book serves as a valuable resource for gastrointestinal surgeons, surgical oncologists, fellows, and advanced trainees seeking detailed guidance on minimally invasive techniques for gastrointestinal oncology.

Jiankun Hu, MD, PhD, FRCS, is Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, and Vice Dean of West China Hospital, Sichuan University. He also serves as Director of the Gastric Cancer Research Laboratory. Professor Hu specializes in gastrointestinal cancer surgery and minimally invasive surgical oncology. He has made significant contributions to gastric cancer research and serves in several national leadership roles in surgical oncology and minimally invasive surgery, including Vice President of the Chinese Endoscopist Association of the Chinese College of Surgeons.
