Low-carbon Ironmaking Technology

Jue Tang | Mansheng Chu

Technology & Engineering / Materials Science / Metals & Alloys

This book provides a detailed introduction to the latest research results on hydrogen-rich reduction ironmaking technology using coke oven gas injected into the blast furnace, preparation of composite iron coke and carbon-containing composite burden, low-carbon smelting technology of the blast furnace, short process of direct reduction in a gas-based shaft furnace, and its application to efficient and clean smelting technology of high-chromium vanadium titanium magnetite, stainless steel dust, boron mud, aluminum red mud, and other typical metallurgical secondary resources. This book also covers efficient and high-value utilization technology.

This book serves as a reference for R&D and application of low-carbon blast furnace ironmaking and efficient and clean utilization of metallurgical resources, actively promoting the low-carbon and green development of the ironmaking industry.

In addition to its research value, this book can also be used as a teaching reference for senior undergraduate and graduate students majoring in metallurgical engineering, resource cycle science and engineering, thermal energy engineering, and other related majors in universities and colleges. It is also useful for scientific and technological personnel and management personnel engaged in ironmaking and comprehensive utilization of metallurgical resources in metallurgical enterprises, scientific research, and design institutions.

Tang Jue is an Associate Professor, Northeastern University. Her research focuses on the frontier of low-carbon ironmaking development, participating in the research and development of new generation low-carbon blast furnace ironmaking key theories and technologies for existing blast furnace mainstream processes. She has presided over 22 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (including General Programs and Youth Programs), sub-projects of the National Key R&D Program of China, a first-class general project of the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and industry-university cooperation projects. She has published more than 30 papers as the first author, including 11 SCI papers and 3 academic books. She has obtained more than 20 invention patent authorizations and achieved transformation of 3 million yuan, and won the first prize for transformation of scientific and technological achievements in Liaoning Province. She has also served as a reviewer for multiple international journals in the field of metallurgy.

Chu Mansheng is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor and currently serves as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, and President of the Low Carbon Steel Frontier Technology Research Institute of the School of Metallurgy, Northeastern University. He is also a Member/Deputy Secretary General of the Metallurgical Reaction Engineering Society of The Chinese Society for Metals, a Member of the Metallurgical Solid Waste Resource Utilization Branch of The Chinese Society for Metals, a Member of the Metallurgy and Nonferrous Metal Safety Sub-committee of the National Technical Committee for Work Safety Standardization, a Member of the Joint Working Group on Hydrogen Metallurgy Standards of the National Steel Standards Committee, Deputy Director of the Ironmaking Branch of the Liaoning Society of Metals, and Director of the Liaoning Society of Engineering Thermochemistry. He has published more than 400 papers, including more than 140 included in SCI and more than 200 included in EI.
