Production and Sustainability of Oilseed Crops

Zia ur Rehman Mashwani | Naveed Iqbal Raja | Ilyas Ahmad | Naeem Khan

Technology & Engineering / Agriculture / General

This book presents an integrated reference on major oilseed crops with a focus on production challenges, scientific advances, and sustainability‑driven solutions. It brings together crop‑specific knowledge supported by current research and field applications across diverse agro‑ecological regions. The volume emphasizes innovation in oilseed systems while maintaining strong relevance to practical agriculture, policy, and academic study.

The chapters cover canola, sunflower, groundnut, sesame, and soybean through a structured progression from basic production systems to advanced strategies for stress management, climate resilience, and productivity enhancement. Early chapters introduce oilseed crops, their economic importance, and production constraints. Subsequent sections address breeding, biotechnology, precision agriculture, soil and water management, pest and disease control, and sustainable farming practices. The book concludes with region‑specific perspectives and future pathways for oilseed development.

This volume serves as a useful reading resource for researchers, postgraduate students, educators, extension professionals, policymakers, and agribusiness stakeholders working in crop science, sustainable agriculture, and oilseed research.
