Computers / Artificial Intelligence / General

This book presents a comprehensive and systematic treatment of acoustic emission (AE)-based intelligent monitoring for laser shock peening (LSP). It focuses on AI-enabled perception, feature learning, and interpretable decision-making for real-time evaluation of residual stress and process quality. Topics of particular interest include dual-loop LSTM-based data optimization, adaptive cepstrum representations, deformable convolutional compression, and transparent deep learning architectures. Rich experimental results, detailed illustrations, and structured modeling frameworks are provided throughout. Readers gain practical methodologies and theoretical insights to design reliable, interpretable, and scalable monitoring systems for advanced laser manufacturing processes.

Zhifen Zhang is a professor and expert in laser additive manufacturing, laser welding, and laser shock peening, with a strong focus on intelligent process monitoring and quality evaluation. She received her Ph.D. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and has led multiple national research projects in advanced laser manufacturing and smart sensing technologies.

Rui Qin is a researcher in laser shock peening and intelligent monitoring, specializing in the fusion of acoustic emission signals, image data, and machine learning algorithms for process evaluation. He received his Ph.D. from Xi’an Jiaotong University.

Jing Huang is a researcher focusing on manufacturing and service performance of critical engineering equipment, with expertise in acoustic emission-based monitoring and AI-driven
diagnostics. She received her Ph.D. from Xi’an Jiaotong University.
