Today, Liutex is widely regarded as a unique and accurate mathematical definition of a vortex and has been applied across a broad spectrum of disciplines.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt was against this backdrop that the International Conference: Toward World Consensus on Vortex Definition and Prediction was held. We are delighted that, as reported at the conference, Liutex has already been employed in studies ranging from hydrodynamics and tropical cyclones to magnetosheath turbulence, large-eddy simulation, gas–solid flows, supersonic tip vortices, and ice-covered channel flows. Since Liutex is the definition of vortex and vortex is involved in many areas, Liutex holds great promise for future applications.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis volume presents a selection of outstanding papers from the conference.
