Law / International

This book offers a timely and interdisciplinary examination of AI regulation in the era of Industry 5.0, where technological innovation must be guided by justice, security, accountability and human well-being. As artificial intelligence increasingly shapes public institutions, legal systems, governance frameworks, and societal interactions, the need for effective and human-centric regulatory approaches has become a global priority.

Bringing together contributions from scholars, legal experts, and researchers, the volume explores some of the most pressing challenges surrounding AI governance. The chapters address critical issues such as lethal autonomous weapon systems, predictive policing, AI-assisted justice delivery, surveillance technologies, digital rights, constitutional governance, algorithmic accountability, labour and employment regulation, public sector transformation, and explainable AI. These topics are examined through legal, ethical, policy, and comparative perspectives that highlight both the opportunities and risks associated with AI-driven decision-making.

A central focus of the book is the transition toward Industry 5.0, which emphasizes collaboration between humans and intelligent technologies. The contributors investigate how governance frameworks can promote innovation while safeguarding fundamental rights, democratic values, transparency, fairness, and public trust. Particular attention is given to the role of regulation in addressing emerging concerns related to accountability, bias, privacy, security, and human oversight in high-impact AI applications.

By connecting debates on justice, security, accountability, and societal transformation, this book provides valuable insights into the future of responsible AI governance. It offers practical and policy-relevant perspectives for developing trustworthy AI ecosystems that place human interests at the centre of technological progress.

This book is intended for researchers, academics, policymakers, regulators, legal professionals, technology practitioners, graduate students, and industry leaders interested in artificial intelligence governance, digital regulation, public policy, ethics and Industry 5.0.
