By integrating gastroenterology with biomedical materials, he pioneered the innovative “3R” nanomedicine strategy (Remove-Remodel-Repair) for gastric cancer control. This breakthrough exemplifies his dedication to translational research that bridges fundamental science and clinical application.

A Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB), Prof. Gao’s distinguished career includes research as a visiting scholar at the University of Michigan. He has authored 125 scientific papers, including 3 ESI Hot Papers, 11 ESI Highly Cited Papers, and 8 Cover Papers, with 5,200 citations. He is the Principal Investigator of 13 major grants and holder of 12 patents.

Prof. Gao further contributes to the global scientific community by serving on the editorial boards of 23 academic journals and key professional committees, actively shaping the future of his field.
