The Future of AI in Healthcare

How Artificial Intelligence Will Transform Clinical Care, Healthcare Technology, and the Doctor-Patient Relationship

Bhargav Patel | Jay Gopal

Computers / Artificial Intelligence / General

Artificial intelligence in healthcare is rapidly transforming how medicine is practiced today, and how it will be redefined tomorrow. From AI scribes and digital assistants to diagnostic algorithms, robotics, and autonomous hospital agents, the future of healthcare will be defined by how humans and machines work together. This book is a clear, accessible, and visionary guide to this unfolding transformation.

The book highlights major advances, including AI scribes that reduce doctors' paperwork, imaging tools that detect diseases earlier, algorithms accelerating drug discovery, and AI-powered command centers that improve hospital operations. It also covers emerging areas often overlooked, such as AI in mental health, ethical concerns surrounding bias and regulation, and how global health systems can advance using AI solutions. Each chapter combines real-world case studies, practical insights, and future-focused scenarios to show where the technology is going.

By the end, readers will not only grasp how AI is changing healthcare today, but also how it will shape medicine over the next decade, from restoring empathy in the doctor-patient relationship to making healthcare more efficient, equitable, and human-centered worldwide. Readers will come away with both a practical understanding of AI's potential applications and the frameworks to think critically about what responsible, human-centered innovation in healthcare must look like.

What You Will Learn

•How AI is already reshaping healthcare practice.

•The future possibilities of AI in clinical care, hospitals, research, and mental health.

•The ethical, regulatory, and trust challenges that come with AI adoption.

•How AI will change the doctor-patient relationship.
