User Experience Research
Navin Rizwi
Standard blurb (set to final)
While there is now a tremendous focus on user-centered product design, research is often conducted without the prerequisite skills and best practices. This results in biased results, inaccurate insights, and product failures. This book aims to be accessible to both students and relevant professionals, without being too specialist or too general. The book helps readers:
- Plan and prepare for user research sessions
- Choose the most appropriate user research methods for the research question
- Formulate questions that are appropriate for user research
- Use qualitative user research methods, such as user interviews, contextual inquiries, and usability testing, and analyze findings
Comprehensively describing qualitative (i.e., ethnographic, participatory and evaluative) and quantitative user research methods, the book details how to choose a user research method depending on the problem statement and wider context. It also discusses how to persuade stakeholders to act on insights gained so that user research is not done in a silo.
