Reframing Risk in Domestic Abuse

A Guide for Practitioners

Saskia Lightburn-Ritchie

Family & Relationships / Abuse / Domestic Partner Abuse

Reframing Risk in Domestic Abuse weaves together theory, professional practice and lived experience to provide social workers, policymakers, and domestic abuse professionals with guidance for reframing risk in domestic abuse settings.

Conversations about domestic abuse are uncomfortable, but holding space for these conversations and recognising failures in current approaches is needed to improve support and future practice when working with victims and survivors. Chapters include real life experiences to shine light on current pitfalls in practice when dealing with domestic abuse and offers practical solutions that align with current policy. The author uses personal anecdotes and accessible language to explain complex ideas and promote critical thinking. This whole-family view of abuse and recovery is an invaluable resource for social workers, domestic abuse professionals and policy makers.

Gender-based violence researchers and students in social work, criminology, psychology and gender studies may also find this book useful in developing their critical thinking regarding domestic abuse.
