Integrating Clinical Hypnosis into Nursing
Enhancing the Care in Healthcare and the Heart in Healing
Linda Thomson | Debra Rose Wilson
Grounded in science and evidence-based medicine, Integrating Clinical Hypnosis into Nursing provides nurses with insight into using hypnosis with patients to bring about change, promote health, and enhance healing.
A holistic framework, comprised of the history of hypnosis, the power of therapeutic language, the scientific understanding of mind-body medicine, and psychoneuroimmunology, allows readers to understand how hypnosis can be used to enhance the self-healing systems of the mind and body. Applications to different clinical settings in health care are presented, including women’s health, pediatrics, pain management, preparation for surgery, emergency, and mental health care in line with ethical considerations of using hypnosis as a healing modality. These peer-reviewed chapters position hypnosis as a natural extension of holistic nursing while preparing readers for emerging innovations such as artificial intelligence in practice. There are applicable case studies and hypnosis practice suggestions at the end of each chapter.
This text is an insightful and detailed resource for practicing nurses looking to integrate hypnosis strategies into their toolkit to promote healing in their patients. It will serve as a key reference and invaluable resource for nurses as they pursue training in clinical hypnosis.
