Teaching with Clarity
Six Capabilities to Maximise Impact
Michael Absolum | Mary Chamberlain | Jane Nicholls
How can teachers and leaders make sound professional decisions amid competing demands, continual reform, and increasing classroom complexity?
Teaching with Clarity offers a coherent, evidence-informed framework for keeping attention where it belongs: on learners, their experiences, and their progress. Its six interdependent capabilities help educators connect the relational, cultural, instructional, and evaluative dimensions of teaching. These capabilities provide a shared language for examining practice, interpreting evidence, and deciding what to do next.
Recognising the importance of professional judgement, this book helps educators navigate the complex and dynamic demands of teaching while maintaining a coherent focus on purpose and progress. It supports teachers to strengthen their practice, teams to develop shared expectations, and leaders to build the conditions for sustained improvement across a school.
This practical and thought-provoking guide is for educators who want every learner to experience agency, belonging, challenge, and success.
