New Directions in Geographical Education
David Boardman
Originally published in 1985, New Directions in Geographical Education brings together into one volume twelve papers which together indicate the main directions in which geographical education was moving at the time. The papers deal with trends in geography teaching, the influence of major curriculum development projects in geography, the role of maps in geographical learning in primary and secondary schools, and the increasing importance of values in geographical education. Six of the twelve papers were specially written for the volume and six first appeared as journal articles published since 1980: two in Australia, two in Britain and two in the USA. Today it can be read in its historical context.
David Boardman was, at the time of original publication, Senior Tutor for the Postgraduate Certificate in Education Course at the University of Birmingham.
