Wellbeing for Veterinarians and the Veterinary Team takes an evidence-based approach to understanding distress and resilience in veterinary medicine, presenting

research-grounded strategies alongside real-world examples from practicing veterinary professionals. Veterinary professionals face elevated suicide rates, burnout, and workplace stress, yet existing resources focus on individual coping rather than systemic solutions. This book expands the lens, examining both personal factors and the organizational and professional environments in which veterinary teams work.

Author and co-editor Carrie Jurney, a board-certified veterinary neurologist and certified crisis intervention instructor, draws on her lived experience alongside the academic and clinical expertise of co-editor Tracy Witte, a clinical psychologist, suicide researcher and professor at Auburn University. With contributions from clinical psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, diversity, and financial planning, the authors translate current literature alongside real-world stories from veterinarians, technicians, practice managers, assistants and students, to demonstrate practice application across roles and settings.
