This book fills a critical gap in the field of Translation Studies by introducing a collection of contributions from scholars and practicing translators who work with Pakistani languages. The contributors share their experiences of translating into and/or from Pakistani languages, which broadens the context of Translation and Interpretation Studies. They argue that, despite the diverse multilingual context of Pakistan, the problems and challenges faced by translators are a neglected field of study compared to the global explorations within the field of Translation Studies. This book highlights the lack of support for translation studies centers and institutions in Pakistan by exploring the perspectives of translators and the challenges they face in publication, and emphasizes the irony between the inferior treatment of translators and their translations in Pakistan and the strong readership of translations. It will be of interest to students and scholars working in fields including Translation and Interpreting, South Asian Languages, South Asian History and Culture.

Akhtar Mirza holds a Master's degree from Université Paris Cité, Paris, France, and is a writer, translator, storyteller, independent researcher, and director. His writings and translations have been published in the Pakistan Academy of Letters’ Adbiyat and the University of Malaya’s (Malaysia) SARE: Southeast Asian Review of English. He is from Lahore and now based in Paris.

Nukhbah Taj Langah is an academic, freelance translator, and activist who works toward the rights of marginalized communities in Pakistan. She regards translation as a means of empowering suppressed languages, cultures, and identities. She is primarily interested in exploring the bridge between translation theory and praxis, as indicated through this initiative. Her professional background includes affiliations with both Forman Christian College University in Lahore, Pakistan and Universiti Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
