This unique book presents in a single resource step-by-step descriptions of the whole spectrum of surgical procedures used to treat facial nerve diseases and facial palsy.
In recent years, otolaryngologists, head and neck surgeons, maxillo-facial surgeons, and plastic surgeons alike have implemented surgical techniques for the treatment of facial palsy, opening a new field of surgery. Unfortunately, teaching and learning materials on this field are extremely fragmented, a problem that this volume seeks to remedy.
The facial nerve is a complex anatomical structure that involves several components, from the cerebellum-pontine angle to the muscles of the face and neck. The surgical procedures used to treat facial nerve diseases and facial palsy are numerous, complex, and involve various surgical specialties such as skull base surgery, ear surgery, head and neck surgery, maxillo-facial surgery, and plastic surgery. This volume describes the procedures in a detailed, step-by-step manner, offering an invaluable reference guide for residents and young surgeons in otorhinolaryngology, head and neck surgery, maxillo-facial, and plastic surgery.
