This book develops a consistency-aware approach to design and verification for pipelines in control, estimation, optimization, robotics, diagnostics, and allocation. Although not widely recognized, many familiar tools such as least squares, SVDs, matrix condition numbers, and many others are widely misused in ways that undermine system integrity. The author addresses this and develops a consistency audit-based framework for preserving and assessing system integrity. 

Jeffrey Uhlmann, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Missouri. He has published seminal work in the areas of information and sensor fusion, metric data structures, and nonlinear estimation.  He has been recognized in the Stanford/Elsevier global rankings of the top 2% of scientists, appearing in both the career-long and annual research-impact categories across multiple years.
