Pediatric Endocrinology provides a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of endocrine disorders affecting children and adolescents. This English edition builds upon the successful Spanish-language work first published in 2023, extending its reach to an international audience through Springer. Written by leading specialists from Latin America, North America, Europe, and Oceania, the volume integrates fundamental concepts of endocrine physiology, genetics, laboratory medicine, and clinical practice into a single reference work.
The book is organized into twelve sections covering more than one hundred topics, ranging from the molecular mechanisms of hormone action and epigenetics to the diagnosis and management of complex endocrine conditions. Major areas include growth and development, puberty, thyroid disorders, adrenal diseases, gonadal disorders, pituitary conditions, bone and mineral metabolism, obesity, diabetes, genetic syndromes, and emerging topics in pediatric endocrinology.
Designed for pediatric endocrinologists, pediatricians, endocrinology trainees, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of children and adolescents, the text combines evidence-based medicine with extensive clinical experience. Detailed discussions are complemented by practical recommendations, diagnostic algorithms, functional testing protocols, tables, and figures that facilitate both learning and daily clinical decision-making.
A distinctive feature of this work is the inclusion of expert editorials following each chapter, in which internationally recognized authorities discuss current controversies, recent advances, and future directions in the field. Through its broad international collaboration and practical clinical focus, Pediatric Endocrinology serves as both a comprehensive reference and a valuable resource for improving the care of children and adolescents with endocrine and metabolic disorders worldwide.
