​Lázaro Guevara is a researcher at the National Collection of Mammals of the Institute of Biology, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. His main research interests are the taxonomy, systematics, biogeography, ecology, and conservation of small mammals in the Neotropics. He mainly focuses on shrew species that are very little known and highly threatened by global change. He is also interested in the history of mammalogy and the work in natural history collections.
