This edited volume presents approaches for integrating ecojustice principles and practices into schools and classrooms. Ecojustice education is a framework grounded in socio-ecological and political perspectives that encourages educators and community members to consider their ethical responsibility to address the interrelated crises of social and environmental injustice. The need for ecojustice education is more urgent than ever as we confront a number of intersecting environmental crises (e.g., climate change, biodiversity and habitat loss, and pollution) that are disproportionately impacting marginalized communities, within and across national borders.

James S. Damico is Professor of Literacy, Culture and Language Education at Indiana University, Bloomington, USA. His research and teaching focuses on media and critical literacy and inquiry-based approaches to help learners navigate complex topics. Since 2008, he has been teaching and researching about global climate change and exploring ways to challenge climate denial and advance ecological justice. He has authored three books and numerous articles and book chapters. His most recent book is titled, How to Confront Climate Denial: Literacy, Social Studies, and Climate Change published by Teachers College Press.
