Intelligent Robot Audio-Visual Navigation Technology

Yinfeng Yu

Technology & Engineering / Telecommunications

This book offers a comprehensive overview of intelligent robot audio visual navigation, emphasizing the fusion of multimodal audio and visual information to advance both theoretical innovation and practical engineering. It introduces five key technologies—from echo enhanced embodied navigation to dynamic multi target fusion systems—detailing their principles, algorithm design, experimental validation, and performance optimization through extensive simulation and real world testing. In addition, the book explores emerging trends such as the integration of metaverse systems, digital twins, and brain computer interfaces, while addressing industrial challenges and practical deployment needs. Structured for both research and teaching, it serves advanced students, researchers, and engineers working in robotics, multimodal information fusion, and navigation technologies, offering a cross disciplinary framework that connects robotics, signal processing, and artificial intelligence to drive new innovations in audio visual navigation.

Yinfeng Yu, Associate Professor and Master's Supervisor, has long been engaged in teaching and scientific research in the field of intelligent robotics and multi-modal information fusion, with a focus on audio-visual navigation technology of intelligent robots. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Technology from Xinjiang University in June 2008, his Master of Science degree in Signal and Information Processing from Xinjiang University in June 2011, and his Doctor of Engineering degree in Computer Science and Technology from Tsinghua University in June 2023, under the supervision of Professor Sun Fuchun. He was awarded the honorary title of "Outstanding Graduate" of the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University in June 2023. Since July 2011, he has been working at the School of Computer Science and Technology, Xinjiang University. He served as an Experimentalist from September 2013 to December 2023, and was promoted to Associate Professor in December 2023. He has been appointed as a Master's Supervisor since September 2023. His research focuses on the innovation and practical application of multi-sensor fusion navigation algorithms, and he has made important achievements in intelligent audio-visual navigation technology in dynamic scenes. He has published more than 10 academic papers, including 2 first-author papers in top international conferences such as the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) and the International Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR). He currently presides over 1 national-level project: the Regional Science Foundation Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (No. 62463029), entitled "Research on Intelligent Audio-Visual Navigation Algorithms and Key Technologies in Dynamic Scenes", with a fund of 320,000 yuan, which is in progress from January 2025 to December 2028. He has also presided over 1 provincial-level vertical project: the Youth Fund of the Natural Science Foundation of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (No. 2015211C288), entitled "Change Detection of Multi-Temporal Remote Sensing Images Based on X-let Transform", with a fund of 50,000 yuan, which has been completed from January 2015 to December 2017.

He is a Member of IEEE, a Member of the Intelligent Robot Professional Committee of the China Computer Federation (CCF), and a Member of the Speech Dialogue and Auditory Professional Committee of CCF. He also serves as a reviewer for top international conferences such as ICASSP 2024, CVPR 2023, ICCV 2023, and ECCV 2022. His research work is supported by national, provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and he has published a large number of high-quality academic papers in top international journals and conferences in the field of intelligent robotics and signal processing, including IEEE Transactions on Robotics, ICRA, IROS, etc. The research results have been highly recognized by the academic community, and have good application prospects in industrial automation, service robots, smart homes and smart cities. He has rich experience in academic research and engineering practice, and has guided many graduate students to carry out research on intelligent robot navigation technology, with solid theoretical foundation and strong practical development ability.
