This book presents the importance of physical examination and imaging assessment in the decision-making process for the treatment of patellofemoral problems. Juan Pablo Martinez-Cano, MD, graduated as a surgeon from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (PUJ), the same institution that endorses his specialty in Orthopedics and Traumatology. He also has a specialty in Sports Orthopedics and Arthroscopy certified by Medsport and Isakos, and a master's degree in Epidemiology from the University of London.
Dr. Martinez-Cano has been leading patellofemoral activities within the Colombian Orthopaedic Society and is now part of the International Patellofemoral Study Group. He has served as instructor of the Knee Course for the Clemi Foundation, has participated in a large number of congresses as a speaker and presented free papers for which he has been awarded prizes, as the Isakos Patellofemoral Traveling Fellowship. He has also served as a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and for the Revista Colombiana de Ortopedia y Traumatología.
Marc Tompkins P., MD, is an associate professor in the Departmentof Orthopedic Surgery at University of Minnesota, Minneapolis (USA). He has a clinical interest in sports medicine that includes knee repair and reconstruction, shoulder repair and reconstruction, cartilage injuries, sports related ankle injuries, and sports related elbow injuries.
He is also member of IPSG and has authored numerous high-impact scientific publications, serves in leadership roles within organizations such as PRiSM, ISAKOS, IPSG, ROCK, and AOSSM.
Elizabeth Arendt, MD, is a Professor and Vice-Chair in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at University of Minnesota, Minneapolis (USA), and is a faculty advisor for medical students. She serves on the Editorial Boards of Knee and Shoulder in Sports and Trauma, British Journal of Sports Medicine, Orthopaedics Today, Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Review, and the American Journal of Sports Medicine.
She has authored numerous influential publications, has received the AOSSM Hall of Fame award and the Patellofemoral Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award, and has been a global leader in patient care, research, education, and mentorship in knee surgery and sports medicine.
