This book offers a broad overview of the current research landscape where artificial intelligence techniques intersect with underlying silicon chip technology, highlighting how AI techniques are being harnessed to elevate the capabilities of silicon hardware. AI has great potential to revolutionize our lives, yet it also faces unique challenges in computing hardware, efficient computation and related power dissipation. Given the rapid pace of AI development and the breadth of ongoing research, this book focuses on the silicon hardware platform on which all AI development are being built. We will discuss new silicon chip developments from companies like Nvidia, AMD, Arm, Intel, and others that are being used by the AI ecosystem (OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft, Google, Apple, xAI, and others). We aim to illuminate the path forward for researchers and engineers in the silicon chip design field by providing a snapshot of current trends, challenges, and potential innovations.

Krzysztof (Kris) Iniewski is director of detector architecture and applications at Redlen Technologies Inc. in British Columbia, Canada. During his 15 years at Redlen he has managed development of highly integrated CdZnTe detector products in medical imaging and security applications. Prior to Redlen Kris hold various management and academic positions at PMC-Sierra, University of Alberta, SFU, UBC and University of Toronto.

Dr. Iniewski has published over 150+ research papers in international journals and conferences. He holds 25+ international patents granted in USA, Canada, France, Germany, and Japan. He wrote and edited 75+ books for Springer, Wiley, Cambridge University Press, Mc-Graw Hill, and CRC Press.
