Understanding the Psychology of Investors

Palash Bairagi | Anindita Chakraborty | Shruti Singh

Business & Economics / Finance / General

This edited book explores the complex network of psychological factors that shape market behavior and investment decisions. It offers an in-depth examination of how emotions, cognitive biases, and social dynamics influence investor actions—and, ultimately, financial market volatility.

By integrating perspectives from finance, psychology, and economics, this book provides readers with a comprehensive understanding of the psychological drivers behind market fluctuations. Combining theory, academic research, practical techniques, and real-world case studies, it equips readers to navigate the complexities of investor behavior in today’s dynamic investment landscape.

The book delivers valuable insights and actionable strategies for a wide range of readers, including individual investors seeking to improve decision-making, financial professionals aiming to better understand client behavior, and policymakers interested in regulatory implications.

Readers will learn how to identify and overcome cognitive biases such as confirmation bias and loss aversion, understand the impact of fear and greed on investment choices, and manage the social forces that influence market movements. With these tools, investors can make more informed, rational, and mindful decisions in an increasingly complex financial world.
