This book provides practical guidance for classroom teachers (both pre-service and in-service) who have multilingual learners in their classes and are interested in using the Multilingual Approach to Diversity in Education (MADE) to provide linguistically and culturally responsive instruction to their multilingual learners. It begins with a chapter that focuses on multilingual learners and their diverse profiles, followed by a general introduction to MADE and then a detailed focus on each of the components that make up the model. Each component is illustrated with 'snapshots' from diverse contexts to help teachers understand why they are at the heart of providing linguistically and culturally responsive instruction to multilingual learners. This book will be of use to pre-service teachers and in-service teachers, as well as those studying on teacher education programmes and their instructors.
