Ethical Challenges and Assessment of selected Medical Artificial Intelligence Systems
Andreas Wabro
By mapping the ethical challenges of selected medical Al use cases, this thesis highlights ethical implications derived from the personal perceptions of thirteen academic Al experts currently designing, developing, or deploying medical Al systems, and more deeply discusses those deemed to have clinical relevance. The aim of this medical dissertation therefore is to assist regulators and healthcare professionals in their daily decision-making and to advance the interests of both patients and medical professionals in future clinical practice.
Andreas Wabro currently conducts applied ethics and legal research besides serving as resident physician at a hospital in Tyrol (Austria), providing on-site medical care and advice to patients and medical professionals alike. He received extensive medical and legal training, graduating from both medical and legal studies at Heidelberg University (Germany), University of Vienna (Austria) and Santa Clara University School of Law (USA).
