This book explores the innovative use of marine-derived materials—such as biopolymers, nanomaterials, and hybrid composites—for advanced environmental remediation. It uniquely integrates bioengineering, nanotechnology, and AI-driven methods to address water pollution, microplastic degradation, and industrial wastewater treatment. Unlike existing works, it emphasizes scalable, eco-friendly solutions with real-world industrial applications. Combining scientific depth with practical case studies, this book serves as a vital resource for researchers, engineers, and professionals seeking sustainable, technology-driven approaches to environmental challenges.
Dr. Mir Waqas Alam is an esteemed scientist and an associate professor in the Department of Physics at King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia, with a specialization in nano and functional materials science. He earned his Ph.D. from Toyama University, Japan, and further honed his expertise through research positions at Western Kentucky University, USA, and the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan. His work spans the fabrication and characterization of organic and photonic devices, including organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs), optically functional OFETs, and energy devices such as solar cells. Dr. Alam’s interdisciplinary research integrates applications in energy, environmental remediation, sensors, and optoelectronics, with notable contributions to photocatalysis and green nanomaterial synthesis for water and pollutant treatment. He is also deeply committed to academic mentorship, actively guiding emerging researchers and contributing to scientific advancement through both education and innovation.
Dr. Sivakamavalli Jeyachandran is graduated from Alagappa University, India. He is currently working as an associate professor, Saveetha Institute of Medical & Technical Sciences, Chennai. He worked as a post-doctoral fellow (2015-2016) in the Department of Bioscience and Bioengineering, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. Sequentially, he worked as a research specialist in Bharathidasan University in June 2017 as N-PDF under DST-SERB, New Delhi, India. From July 2019 he is worked as a research scientist, Chonnam National University, Yeosu, South Korea.
