This open access book offers a comprehensive and empirically grounded study of China’s economic cooperation with the Global South in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The book brings together leading scholars from Peking University and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences to examine the mechanisms, outcomes, and challenges of South–South cooperation across trade, investment, infrastructure, digital finance, green industries, education, and debt governance.
The book aims to:
- Make the original research accessible to a global audience of academics, policymakers, and practitioners.
- Update data and case studies to reflect developments up to 2025.
- Situate China’s Global South cooperation within international development debates and comparative frameworks.
- Contribute to Springer’s established strengths in development economics, international business, and Asian studies.
Huang Yiping, he serves as Boya Distinguished Professor and Dean in National School of Development, Dean of Institute of South–South Cooperation and Development, Director of Digital Finance Research Center, Peking University. He is a membe of Monetary Policy Committee, People’s Bank of China; Vice Secretary-General of China Society for Finance and Banking; Chair of FinTech Development and Research Committee, National Internet Finance Association of China; a member of China Finance 40 Forum (CF40) and China Economist 50 Forum.
