This book touches the basics in the most common fields regarding machine vibration monitoring. Rotating machinery vibration and rotor dynamics are not the concepts that can be easily understood as they relate to multiple other technical areas. It also provides common knowledge for machine operators to understand machine vibration and perform basic vibration monitoring functions.

Jing Yuan graduated with Bachelor and Master degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and continued into a Ph.D. program at the same university. In the last year of the Ph.D. program, she discontinued and moved to the USA. In her professional career in the USA, she gained knowledge and experience in the field of rotor dynamics and engine vibration. Starting from a research engineer, she became a manager of a customer technical support engineer group, and a chief engineer for the organization. By solving difficult technical issues, she has been rewarded with many achievements and appreciation awards from the US Navy, from the corporation, and from the organization.
