This book offers a distinctive and timely contribution to the literature on geopolitics, regional leadership, and strategic studies by focusing on Indonesia’s leadership strategies within the rapidly evolving Indo-Pacific framework. This is an interdisciplinary edited volume that explores how Indonesia, Southeast Asia’s largest and most populous nation is navigating, adapting to, and shaping the Indo-Pacific regional order in the age of multipolarity. It aims to fill a crucial intellectual and policy-oriented gap by providing in-depth, empirically grounded, and theoretically informed perspectives on Indonesia’s positioning in a region increasingly defined by strategic contestation, economic interdependence, and multilateral realignments.

Anak Agung Banyu Perwita is a Professor of International Relations at the Republic of Indonesia Defense University, Sentul-Bogor, Indonesia. He is also a Fulbright Fellow at the University of South Carolina, USA, an Asian Visiting Fellow at the Nordic Institute of Asian Studies, Copenhagen, Denmark, and at Giessen University, Germany.
