Atlas of Diagnostic and Predictive Histopathology
Shahid Pervez
The third edition of this atlas provides an updated overview of histopathology across all organ systems, incorporating the latest developments in diagnostic pathology. This edition features over 3,500 high-quality illustrations; it also covers the 5th and where applicable 6th edition of the World Health Organization (WHO) classifications of tumors for each organ system and discusses the up-to-date diagnostic criteria, including the use of ancillary and molecular tests that have become the standard of care for MMR, KRAS, HER2, and BRAF testing in colorectal cancer, and EGFR, ROS1, and ALK testing in non-small cell lung cancer. Additionally, the diagnosis of brain tumors, which now requires multiple immunohistochemistry (IHC) and molecular-based tests as standard practice, is addressed, together with updated guidance on predictive pathology, including commonly used biomarkers such as ER, PR, PD-L1, and HER2, as well as an introduction to next-generation sequencing (NGS). The atlas is further supplemented with easy-to-understand images, selected radiologic correlations where relevant, and interpretive guidelines for ancillary reflex testing to support accurate diagnosis and clinical decision-making.
This atlas is relevant for trainees in histopathology, anatomic pathology, and cellular pathology, as well as surgical and practicing pathologists. It is also a valuable reference for physicians, radiologists, biomedical scientists, and other healthcare professionals involved in diagnostic pathology.
