This book focuses on the issue of elderly care in China, explores the path of elderly care development with Chinese characteristics, strives to build a Chinese theoretical system for elderly care, proposes Chinese solutions to the global elderly care problem, and attempts to make unique theoretical contributions to the development of elderly care worldwide. This book, based on theories from social security, public administration, public economics, and political science, studies China's family-based elderly care, community-based home care, institutional elderly care, mental health care for the elderly, the impact of population aging, and international lessons learned in elderly care security. It analyzes the existing problems of China's elderly care system and, based on international experience, proposes policy recommendations to enhance the accessibility and security of elderly care services in my country. It also summarizes the historical experience of China's elderly care mechanism, telling the story of China's elderly care security development.

Ding Jianding, male, born in July 1964, Han nationality, from Nanyang City, Henan Province, has been working at the School of Sociology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology since January 2002, and was promoted to professor in 2002. He is currently a Level-2 Professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Sociology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. His main research areas are the history of Western social security systems, social welfare thought, China's social security system, and the elderly care service system. He is the director of the Hubei Provincial Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences, the "Huazhong University of Science and Technology Elderly Care Service Research Center," the director of the China National Committee on Aging's Scientific Research Base, and the editor-in-chief of the academic journal *Elderly Care Research*. He is also the vice president and director of the Teaching Committee of the China Social Security Association, a member of the Teaching Steering Committee for Sociology Majors in Higher Education Institutions under the Ministry of Education, a member of the National Steering Committee for Postgraduate Education in Social Work, and a member of the Policy Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Civil Affairs. He also serves as an academic committee member or editorial board member for well-known professional academic journals such as *Social Security Review*, *Social Security Research*, *Social Security System*, *Social Construction*, *Social Policy Research*, and *Management Journal.
