This book presents select peer-reviewed proceedings of the International Conference on Materials for Energy, Environment, and Healthcare 2024 (MEEHCON 2024). This book includes comprehensive papers on synthesis, characterization and properties of advanced materials for energy, environment and healthcare. The topics covered include energy materials, materials for sustainable development, medical materials, advanced characterisation of functional materials and modelling and simulation of materials. The papers include illustrations, tables, figures, graphs, and references to provide comprehensive information to the readers. This book will be useful for students, researchers and professionals working in the area of advanced functional materials.

Prof. Sajith V. is a Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the National Institute of Technology, Calicut, India. He completed his Bachelor of Technology at Government Engineering College, Kannur, in 1998, and earned his Master of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, in 2005. He holds a Ph.D. from the National Institute of Technology, Calicut. In 2015, Dr. Sajith conducted post-doctoral research in nanotechnology at Rice University, Texas, USA. Before joining NIT Calicut in 2001, Dr. Sajith worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Grasim Industries Ltd. (Aditya Birla Group) and now has 23 years of teaching experience. Currently, he is engaged in research projects funded by various organizations, including DST, ARDB, TATA Steel, HPCL, NTPC, and CVRDE (DRDO). Dr. Sajith has co-authored numerous publications, including 80 international journal and conference papers, two books, and five book chapters. He is also a Director of Niexco Eco Cycle Pvt. Ltd., a start-up incubated at IIM Kozhikode. His current research interests focus on phase change materials, nanofluids, optical measurement techniques in heat transfer, and internal combustion engines.

Prof. M. M. Shaijumon obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from Indian Institute of Technology Madras. He spent more than 3 years in the United States as a postdoctoral research fellow at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York, and Rice University, Houston, Texas. Later he spent nearly a year and half as a senior postdoctoral researcher at Paul Sabatier University, Toulouse, France. He joined IISER Thiruvananthapuram as an Assistant Professor in School of Physics in 2010 and is Professor with IISER since 2023.  His research interests are in the area of nanomaterials and energy storage and conversion, focusing on the synthesis of novel nanostructures, design and development of efficient energy storage devices, mostly looking at the materials science and physics of these systems. He is one of the co-inventors of ‘paper battery’, a flexible nanocomposite based energy device, which has been patentedHe is an editorial member for the International journal, Graphene. He received the DAE Young Scientist Research Award in 2012.
