View the Holocaust through the eyes of the women who lived it – victims, survivors, resisters, rescuers, and perpetrators.
In a groundbreaking volume, Women and the Holocaust gathers these underrepresented stories all in one place, giving perspective to the women who shaped this weighty event in history. From the well known diarist Anne Frank, to the lesser discussed rescuer Elisabeth Abegg and Nazi Magda Goebbels, this volume divulges the stories of women during this period of war, discrimination, and terror. Examining the Holocaust from the viewpoint of women from dozens of different countries and playing all different roles in it, the collective volume lends a more complete understanding of women's experiences, fears, acts of courage, and difficult decisions during this time.
Organized into accessibly written alphabetical entries, the volume also offers primary source documents, allowing readers to hear about these events and experiences from people who were actually there.
